This one from the Huffington Post made me laugh:
“Pinch Sulzberger’s attempt to put his prized columnists behind a subscription wall on the theory that they were so much better than free bloggers that people would pay for them–is finally so doomed it’s actually dead, dead, dead, as of midnight tomorrow. … You see, it’s really a success story! It “met expectations.” It’s just that online ad growth was so much higher it was more profitable to not charge readers and thereby get more of them! I mean, who could have foreseen that (except everyone else in the industry)?”

Excuse me, at what point did FX become the new HBO?
As the Sopranos came to an end, I can only imagine what it must have felt like in the offices of HBO. The Sopranos had always the anchor series for the “it’s not TV, its HBO” lineup of ambitious television. Now it looks like the reign of HBO has come to it’s inevitable end. They are being challenged by fledging networks like FX that are no longer to run TV-MA shows. From the Shield to Rescue Me, these are good shows that are generating the “water cooler” buzz that HBO used to have. Read more
